Winch Truck Operator (Opal, AB)

About Us

Peaskie Minerals is a premier supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Our facility is located approximately 12 km north of Redwater or a 45-minute drive from north Edmonton.

Please note this is NOT a camp position. Candidates must live in the area or be willing to commute.

Position: Winch Truck Operator

Terms of Employment: Full-Time

Rate: $43.39/hourly, Overtime after 8 hours per day

Schedule: 5 on / 2 off, Days (Ability to work overtime and varying shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) – 10 hours per day

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transports heavy equipment and materials throughout various job sites
  • Load and unload equipment and materials as required, following safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure loads are secure using proper tools (chains, tarps, etc.)
  • Maintain vehicle log book and field level hazard assessments in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip on assigned truck daily
  • Clean and maintain assigned truck during and after each use
  • Understand and obey all provincial highway rules and regulations
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics
  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Training

  • 5 years experience
  • Must have a valid Class 1 driver’s license
  • Heavy equipment operation an asset
  • Trailer configuration experience (jeeps, wheelers, etc.)
  • Off road experience an asset
  • Oversize load experience an asset

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to talk and hear audible sounds and voices
  • Must be able to frequently walk, use hands and fingers, handle objects, feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and on occasion up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including repetitive crouching, bending, kneeling, and shoveling.
  • Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a safety sensitive position. The candidate in this role must be able to pass a functional fit test as well as a drug and alcohol test.

General Labourer (Opal, AB)

Position: General Labourer

Terms of Employment: Full Time, Seasonal

Rate: $28.88/hourly – $31.19/hourly, Overtime after 8 hours per day

Schedule: 7 on, 7 off, Days and Nights – 12 hours per day.

Hours of Work: 6:00am-6:00pm, 6:00pm-6:00am

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Remove snow, sand and other debris from the truck scale and outside areas of the plant
  • Operate various types of equipment (skid steer, loader, zoom boom, etc.) and provide general maintenance as required
  • Assist the Plant Operator with screen changes
  • Assist with taking and screening quality control samples
  • Responsible for belt changes, greasing of the rotex and elevator bearings
  • Must be willing to climb sand bins (approx. 60 feet) and elevator towers (approx. 110 feet)
  • Provide general housekeeping throughout the plant, shop, and equipment areas
  • Participate in all required company safety meetings, toolbox talks and cross-shift communication
  • Take an active role in the improvement of health and safety in the workplace
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • Experienced in operating a skid steer is considered an asset
  • Experience in a construction and/or manufacturing environment is considered an asset
  • Demonstrates general mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical related issues

Dredge Operator (Opal, AB) - Accepting Applicants from BC-Ontario

About Us

Peaskie Minerals is a premier supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Our facility is located approximately 12 km north of Redwater or a 45-minute drive from north Edmonton.

Please note we are accepting applicants from British Columbia to Ontario, and LOA will be provided dependent on your location. We are expecting this to be a 3-6 month contract.

Position: Dredge Operator

Terms of Employment: Full-Time, Contract/Temporary

Rate: $50.00-$60.00 / hour, overtime after 8 hours per day.

Schedule: 5 on / 2 off, Days. 10-12 hours per day.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the Ellicott 370 dredge to extract sand and aggregate materials
  • Monitor dredging operations, including slurry flow, pump performance, and cutter head activity
  • Perform manual labour, pipe bolts ups, pump setups and removal, setting anchor for the dredge, and operating/ removing the tender boat as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on dredge equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues in real-time
  • Maintain accurate production and operational logs
  • Work closely with site supervisors and maintenance teams to optimize output
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and provincial regulations
  • Perform basic repairs and coordinate major maintenance as required
  • Maintain housekeeping standards on and around the dredge
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Training

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Class 5 Drivers’ License

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of dredge operation experience
  • Experience operating or familiarity with Ellicott dredges is considered a strong asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work long shifts in outdoor, remote, and physically demanding environments
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum; higher classes considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in sand, gravel, or aggregate mining operations
  • Heavy equipment operation experience
  • First Aid and safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS)
  • Willingness to travel and work at various project sites
  • Boat experience required.
  • Boat License is required.
